Our main role at Blue Alpha Wealth is investment planning and management. However, this is not in a silo as we help you apply managing your investments to fund particular goals and plans you have for the future. We help you create a one-page financial and investment plan and manage it on your behalf. It's a long term relationship and for individual investors who want to delegate this responsibility as well as working together in partnership. If you have for example an RRSP, TFSA or any other type of investment services you need guidance with, that is what we mostly do.
No, our initial conversation is more introductory and an opportunity for you to know what working with us looks like and who we help. You never pay us directly for any solutions we recommend and implement. The financial institutions you choose to help with your financial plan are the ones who compensate us as brokers.
Yes, many of our clients say they prefer now to meet or deal with us remotely and virtually most of the time so they don't have to come to our office or meet in theirs. This makes it easier to work with clients across Ontario and Canada provided they are willing to work with us remotely and use tools like Zoom. We still do meet with people safely face to face on occasion for instance when collecting cheques for GIC purchases.

I help our clients build their portfolios and manage their investments in a way that helps them meet their financial planning goals. I also specialize in disability insurance to help protect your income which is the basis for funding your retirement and other goals. I began my career 14 years ago with BMO executing stock and options trades to help self-directed clients navigate through the global financial crisis. This was a great platform to help transition to working one on one independently with clients at Edward Jones Investments, TD Wealth and now Blue Alpha Wealth.

I consider myself to be open-minded and willing to learn about people and various topics to expand my interests. Having grown up in Zimbabwe, Australia and Canada has allowed me to experience people and situations that have helped shape who I am today and growth as a person. I love competitive sports particularly rugby and tennis. I fell in love with motor racing at the tender age of 5 after watching my first Rally motor racing race taking place in the bush of Zimbabwe, then discovered MotoGP and Formula 1 soon after that. Anything to do with airplanes and speed such as fighter jets is a passion of mine. Otherwise, as I like to say, get to know me, to know me is to love me :).

Yes. We have found that clients have begun to prefer this as it saves a lot of time besides keeping them safe during the pandemic protocols. The nice thing is we have secure encrypted platforms and tools such as DocuSign and no need for printing or scanning in most cases.
No. We don't believe in account minimums as they unfortunately exclude many individuals from receiving quality advice. This is part of the reason why Carter left TD Wealth Private Investment Advice to be independent as the policy was for clients to have at least $500,000 accumulated in their investment accounts to be able to engage an advisor. Below $500,000 clients were directed to working with someone at the local bank branch. There is nothing wrong with the bank branch - they just lack the tools and options that you would get working with a professional financial advisor. Carter's approach is a focus on a conversation first to understand where you want to be financially and whether he can help you get there effectively.
FINANCIAL ADVISOR associate
Bal is an associate advisor at Blue Alpha Wealth helping our clients with life insurance planning, GIC and client administration. Overall, Bal helps to make sure everything is running smoothly and that we can provide our clients with the best service and experience. With her accounting background Bal is able to assist broadly by understanding the importance of attention to detail as well as being proactive with the needs of our clients. Beyond the office, Bal is an avid sports fan and reader and enjoys meeting new people and clients and understanding what makes them tick.
When you choose to work with a financial advisor it comes down to whether there is a good fit of personality and your confidence in our ability to help you reach your goals. Beyond that, here are our philosophies to help you make your decision:
One-Page Financial Plan
Most people don't like the process or understand a 20 page document called a "financial plan" because it's too involved and complicated. We believe in focusing on your most urgent financial need today and planning that out first as a starting point.
No Account Minimums
Account minimums are more a business model rather than something helpful to the client. We believe everyone deserves great financial advice. We don't judge you based on your net worth but first have a conversation to see if we are a good fit.
Invest Your Way
When you're a hammer everything looks like a nail. We don't have one but many investing solutions from different providers to help meet the needs of clients as well as accommodate your preferred investing needs whether hands on or hands off.

Where is your money invested? Cash, fixed income, equities, Canada? Do you have a specific investment plan you understand? Do you feel it can be adjusted to better align with your goals? Are you paying attention to the amount of risk you're taking based on your time horizon and investment goals? We'll give you an objective view of what you are currently doing and briefly tell you our philosophy and how it can benefit you
How long can you go without your income or paycheque? How will it affect your lifestyle and your ability to plan for the future, let alone invest? Disability income insurance is insurance for your ability to earn an income in the event you can't work if you're sick or get injured. Get disability insurance for your specific occupation and the type of activities you perform in that occupation.
Why are you investing and why do you feel professional advice can help you? Have you attached specific goals to your money and how important is it that you reach these goals? This helps us understand what you're planning for and what steps best suit your situation and risk profile.
Are you curious about the fees you're paying or perhaps more aware given the media attention? Do you like the idea of portfolio management from experienced money managers that gives you access to different types of investment options typically used by institutions and pension funds? We can help you with this and show you the benefit of discretionary portfolio management.
Have you made yourself prepare for the fact that your retirement could last 20 to 30 years after you receive your last paycheque? It probably hard to consider that if retirement is a few years away but if its 5 to 10 years away it may be top of mind. Either way, the best way to secure a worry-free retirement is to set yourself up with some form of lifetime guaranteed income to cover your basic fixed expenses in retirement. This makes or breaks your retirement as worry about outliving your savings is the number one anxiety people have once they retire. We can project for you when you are likely to achieve financial independence given your savings and spending, and we adjust to get you to that retirement number only you know will remove anxiety.
Accumulation of your nest-egg and investing are usually the fun and easy part when it comes to building portfolios and attaching those to a particular financial goal. However, taxes, if ignored, can easily derail your plans or at least erode away at the progress you make if not planned properly. We maximize opportunities and tax savings tools by looking for ways to optimize your financial plan to minimize income taxes.
We offer group retirement plans with a capped management fee allowing more of your employees money to stay invested while investing in one of the worlds largest asset managers. It also allows administrators to manage the plan digitally and with less paperwork and hassle. We have partnered with Nest Wealth at Work to offer Canada’s best Group RRSP Platform. This fully digital platform is 100% free for employers, and it means no more paper work, a simplified on boarding process, and access to professional financial advice from Blue Alpha Wealth.
